Tacet exists because a feed should be something you read, not something that reads you.
The idea
Facebook is where a lot of people keep up with family, friends, groups and local communities. Over time the feed has filled with things nobody asked for: ads, algorithmic suggestions, short-form video rails and activity noise. Leaving isn't always an option. Tuning it out should be.
Tacet is a small, careful tool for that job. It removes what you choose, leaves the rest exactly as it is, and never touches your account.

Private by construction
No servers, no analytics, no accounts. The best data policy is having no data.
Reversible
Anything hidden can be revealed. Every decision has a reason you can read.
Calm, not clever
When detection is unsure, Tacet shows the content. Being wrong quietly is worse than doing nothing.
Configurable without being complicated
Presets for most people; depth for those who want it; search to find any setting.
Who makes it
Tacet is written, designed and maintained by Steven Fernandez, an independent developer. There is no company behind it, no investors and no growth targets. That is deliberate: a tool that promises to collect nothing is easiest to trust when there is nobody who would benefit from collecting something.
It also means updates come from one person. When Facebook changes its markup, fixes arrive as fast as one careful developer can make them, and the extension is built to fail safe in the meantime by showing content rather than guessing.

Tacet is independent software. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc. or Facebook. Facebook is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc., used here only to describe compatibility.
Original work
Tacet's code, design, copy and assets are original. It draws on the broad, long-standing idea that people should be able to shape their own feeds, and implements that idea from scratch.
