Release notes

Every release, what changed, and anything you should know before updating.

1.1.0

  • New filter, off by default: posts and Reels that Facebook labels as AI-made ("AI info", "Made with AI", "Imagined with AI", in every interface language Tacet supports), and posts whose caption tags them as AI-generated (#aivideo, #sora, #veo3 and similar). It has its own quick switch in the popup and lives under Settings → Posts. Facebook labels only some AI content, so unlabelled AI videos still get through; see the FAQ.
  • The Stories bar, with its Create story card, is found again on Facebook's current layout, which dropped the markers Tacet used to look for. The Stories switch now removes the whole bar.
  • The Sponsored block in the right column, above Birthdays, is hidden again under Sidebar clutter: the label is now read the same way as on feed adverts, and the column is found even without its landmark.
  • The store listing is now "Tacet: Ad Blocker & AI Filter for Facebook", with a translated name and summary in each supported language.

1.0.1

The extension is now listed as "Tacet: Ad Blocker & Feed Cleaner for Facebook", with a translated name and summary in each supported language, so it is easier to find in the Chrome Web Store. No functional changes.

1.0.0

Initial release for Google Chrome and Brave.

Filtering

  • Independent controls for sponsored, suggested and recommended posts, people and group suggestions, Reels, Stories, Memories, activity noise, game and app posts, polls, events, fundraising prompts, profile photo updates, tagged activity and promotional clutter.
  • Local text rule engine with phrases, multiple terms, whole-word, case-insensitive and regular-expression matching, allow and block rules, and rule testing.
  • Allow lists for people, pages and reliably identifiable groups that override generic filters.

Experience

  • Quiet Modes: Focus, Balanced, Social, Minimal and Custom.
  • A filter for posts from pages you don't follow, sponsored listings on Marketplace, a keyboard shortcut to pause (Alt+Shift+T), a scrolling-time-saved estimate, and the interface in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian and Dutch.
  • A small Tacet button at the far right of Facebook's top bar shows how many posts were hidden on the page and drops down the full Tacet popup: session counts, quick controls, Quiet Modes and pause. Can be switched off in Appearance.
  • Optional one-line "Hidden by Tacet" cards with a Show button, off by default; the popup lists every hidden item with its reason.
  • Hidden Content Drawer with per-session counts, reveal, per-filter pause and per-tab pause.
  • Quiet Score session tally, kept locally.
  • Visual Rule Builder with AND/OR grouping, live validation and test.
  • Experimental Element Picker with stable selector generation and rule health.
  • Full settings application with search, keyboard navigation, section and global reset, import and export.
  • Light, dark and high-contrast themes; reduced-motion support.
  • Reels media controls: playback speed from 0.5× to 2× and start-muted, applied locally to Reels videos only and always overridable by hand.

Safety and privacy

  • Safe Mode and per-tab pause.
  • Manifest V3 with minimal permissions: local storage plus access to the Facebook desktop domains.
  • No analytics, telemetry, remote code or network requests.
